[He's still a little pollaxed by surprise. He knew he was somewhere else completely, wondered if it meant something had happened to him, but seeing Megumi here, now...]
I went to sleep in that camp. Then I woke up here. If the same thing happened to you...
[ Her expression grows slightly troubled at the mention of what happened with her- her ears droop visibly, and she shakes her head. ]
It's not important. We're not there anymore.
[ Clearly, she doesn't want to recall it. Her own hand lifts to his cheek again, a softer look in her eyes. ]
I'm not sure what happened- I was there, then I was home, then... here. Nothing makes any sense, but I've met a lot of folks who remember- that place, and some with the same faces who don't. Might as well- just focus on what's happening now, aye?
[That's an important and startling difference, since he doesn't have any memories of being back in Japan - unless he was only back for long enough to continue dozing on the train.]
we're being drawn out of our worlds again... but it doesn't seem like it's related.
Still, it can't be coincidence it's happened more than once. Most people never leave their worlds at all.
[ Her reply to going home in between, that is, though she does look thoughtful- ]
There's one thing, though. When I was back home, I know I didn't remember that place. It was as though I'd never left home at all. But now that I'm here, I can recall everything.
[ She shakes her head... ]
Jumping shards in my star isn't impossible, but it's stuff of legends and stories. So... that's the only thing that doesn't make sense. At least I got to see my family and tribe- and be with them. Didn't you?
The buffet place isn't far, and the waitstaff will show them to a table with almost no delay.
When Souji returns to the table from the line, his tray has two plates on it, each neatly divided into six portion-sized 'slices' by carefully placed carrot sticks. One plate has entrees, the other has sides. Then there's a bowl of salad, a bowl of soup, and a bowl of pudding.
"Itadakimasu," he says, with intent seriousness, before digging in.
Futaba's plenty eager to eat and gets what she considers a lot of food. However it pales in comparison to what Souji came back with. She looks on in surprise.
"Woah! You're definitely a big eater." She doesn't mind it though and is quick to dig in herself. She got a variety of things ranging from Japanese-esque food to some things more familiar to Americans.
"So what's the other world like in your time? The way things worked for us was apparently a new development so I'm kind of curious."
"Well, everything seems normal for the time we're in," he says, shrugging, pausing to all but inhale one of his sides - it's almost hypnotic, really.
"Inaba is a small town, and everything with Personas stayed quiet enough that it wouldn't make the news or spread very far. We might have made it into one police report... but probably not."

[He frowns. But she'd noticed he was gone...]
Megumi-san, what did happen to you?

[Rather than... shouting invitations, say.]
