Actually, once I get the degree, I'm going to apply to work with the police. I want to help people understand and keep them safe... but not quite that way.

A policeman with a psych degree? That's... pretty different.

There are specialist jobs, at least in the big cities. Forensic psychology... using your understanding of how people think to help identify or analyze suspects and crimes.

I think I'd be good at it.

Ah, yeah. . . There is that sort of thing, isn't there? Not that it's my thing, even if analysis is a hobby of mine.

I used to like to just sit at the train station and watch people going about their days.

[ She doesn't say any more on it, since her reasons are pretty personal. She's always watched people because she was constantly afraid.

I don't know, I was never one for. . . conversation, I guess. You said you've been in a placed called 'Inaba', right? What's it like there?

It's a quiet little town near the edge of the Kansai region. They have a nice shrine, and the Samegawa River, and... good beefsteak? I'd never lived in a rural area before, so it was a nice change of pace.

Huh.

I've never really been to a rural area myself, either - the furthest I went out of my city was Hokkaido for our class trip.

Hokkaido's nice.

I lived in twelve different prefectures, but they were all big cities. My parents are economic inspectors, so.

[dereban]

Huh.

I'm from a pretty big city myself — have you ever been to Yokohama?

[fridgeninja]

I've been through it - when my family lived in Tokyo we stopped there on the way to Kamakura. We never stayed overnight, though.

[dereban]

Yokohama's really nice. . .

[ She hums a little, shifting to get herself more comfortable. ]

[There's just the slightest teasing tone to his voice.]

[ Her words trail off. It isn't enough. ]

I'm glad. It's good to have a chance to... get to know someone here, and make friends.

[Carefully, he reaches over with his free hand and curls fingers around hers - the hand he's already holding.

Of course, there's no point in holding one hand with two, so once that hand is there, he draws the other back, and hesitates only a moment.]

[ She usually isn't like this. Yearning and needy and wanting — it's such a vulnerability that she hates to show to other people.

Swallowing hard, the flush never leaving her cheeks for a single second, she quietly nods. ]

[ Her voice is still pitching high at that single word and it's kind of embarrassing. ]

[Because he definitely wants to kiss her. He leans in the rest of the way, slowly, leaving time for second thoughts, before his lips brush hers, lightly, the gentlest of kisses, while his self-restraint will still permit it.]

[ This isn't her first kiss.

But the second that he leans in the rest of the way and she can feel lips on her own. It's soft and gentle — the feeling is nice in comparison to the simple hand holding gesture and she can't help but relish in it, humming with a pleased connotation as she instinctively deepens the kiss herself. ]
