[Just after sunrise, the morning after the last night of September's Sanguis, Souji will be woken up by a text from Chie.

It's been a while since they've seen each other in person. She's been sleeping on Crowley's couch since the thing with Rise happened.]

Do you know that fight club place in Lower Lunatia can you come and pick me up from there???

Also plz bring some clothes I lost mine.

Stuff that'll cover me I'm just in my jacket rn I wasn't wearing that to my fight so it survived.

[When Souji gets the fight club, she'll find Chie huddled under her jacket in said waiting area, looking somewhat the worse for wear. There's blood all over Chie, not all of it hers, and dried seed down her legs, including the one that's been clawed. Her own scales and fangs and claws are gone now that the sun is up.]

[Souji goes down on one knee next to her, opening up the bag he brought. He has a fresh change of underwear, a sports bra, a set of sweatpants or track pants, a sleeveless top, and her 'house shoes' ready, along with a roast beef sandwich in a plastic bag, two water bottles, and a washcloth.]

... Healing first?

[Truly he's the best boyfriend.

Chie nods.]

Yeah. Please. Fight club... got kind of messed up. It sort of turned into, um, fuck club. And the guy I was with... he was pretty big.

[He takes a deep breath, and casts his best healing spell. At the moment, that's Salvation, which ought to heal her injuries fully, along with any conditions.]

Hey. Do I get the grand tour?

[Souji steps through the door with a four-pack of sodas - picked up on the way - and there's just a touch of awkwardness behind the warmth of his smile. He's not at all upset Yosuke moved - well, he's a little upset with himself that he was inconsiderate enough not to anticipate the problem - but though he's been trying to stay connected with everyone, there's no person alive who doesn't worry at least a little about any variation on 'we need to talk.' Not even Souji.]

Uh, I mean... it's not exactly presentable... but sure, why not?

[ But he does look a little awkward himself and, the most telling, were the lack of Cordis features. There was also a bandage peaking out of the collar of his shirt, but he opens the door wider to let Souji in. ]

It uh... well, it's one of the somethings I wanted to tell you about, anyway.

[ Overall, his apartment is neat if a small two bedroom place. One of the ones that was free for the moonblessed. Only one room was furnished for now, the other he wasn't sure what he wanted to do yet, so it stayed empty for now. He's never had to decorate before so things are a bit sparse still but overall he has the essentials and it's clean. ]

Apparently, you can change moonblessings? I uh, I'm Sanguis now and apparently I got to be like Kanji and went full werewolf for a couple days. It was hella awkward and I tore shit up without meaning too. [ He nodded to the ruined couch in question. ]

Of course.

[He'll hand her one of the water bottles, and use the other to dampen the washcloth, stroking the cloth across her skin slowly, meticulously, not just focusing on the most obvious issue. He wants her to be able to feel clean all over, after she's been sweating, bleeding, aching all over, and he'll keep going until he's cleaned all her visible skin, or until she stops him. Methodical as he is, it still won't be that long - three, maybe five minutes.]

[He shakes his head, and looks back up at Yosuke, seriously.]

Are you all right?

Yeah, I'm fine. Kanji and I got into a fight but Naoto patched me up. I'm low on Chroma so I can use Dia right now. [ He waved his hands in a slight panic. ] Uh, don't worry about the fight though! Kanji was just... doin' that Sangui territorial shit and he didn't recognize me and I kinda forgot what he looked like too.

It's all good and he's been helpin' me out a lot with this whole thing.

[ He really was grateful for Kanji's help. He led Souji back to the kitchen so they could sit and so he could get a can of the soda Souji brought. ]

Which... kinda leads me to the other thing. [ He waited for Souji to take a seat. ]

... I can loan you enough Chroma to replace the couch.

[But he has the feeling that isn't it. He cracks his own soda, and sits, looking over at his partner, still just a little bit worried.]

[ He shook his head as he sipped the soda, bouncing his leg a little. ]

I'll build it back up soon enough, it's fine. 'Cause uh... [ He wished he was a bit more articulate to actually segue into this better. But he figured he shouldn't be worried, Souji is the most accepting guy around! He just also knew what a massive hypocrite he had been too and he was hoping he didn't get That Look from him. ] I guess guys along with girls aren't... totally... off the table?

[ His cheeks went red at this and he set the soda down. ]

B-Before you say anything! I... so I apparently only left here for like three days so, I don't think anyone noticed I was gone except for Rise, she kinda blew up my phone with texts. B-But back home, I was there for over six months before I ended up back here. And between here and how this place is and being home and just... going through some things...

[ He sighed heavily and shook his head. ]

I was in such deep denial that I didn't even realize it until recently and I know that makes me this huge hypocrite but... I guess it explains things too. A-And I plan on telling Kanji too! He-He deserves that a-and an apology. So... yeah.

[Souji is visibly stunned. It isn't the sort of mild, missable expression Yosuke has learned to read but mist others overlook, but wide eyes, even paling a little. He opens his mouth to respond and for a moment there'w nothing.]

... I... wasn't expecting that. But it's - we all have a lot to figure out, and...

... nn. And right now, it looks like it bothers me. That's not it.

... Is it okay if I ask how you figured it out?

[ When Souji began to pale a little, Yosuke bit his lip and even began to look like he was going to start to panic. But then, even as Souji confirmed what it looked like, that it... wasn't it? But Souji wasn't bolting or yelling at him or anything, so he took a moment to get his composure back a little. ]

U-Uh... um, wh-when those fox fanatics kidnapped us, I had to drink this funky wine. A-And in August, during the Triple Moon, I had like... more than normal fox features. Nine tails and stuff. And... kind of a confidence boost, you could say. You know how worried I get, anxious and stuff... a lot of it has to do with how others see me.

[ His soda was mostly forgotten as he stared at the table, fidgeting with his hands. ]

You know, the Junes kid and stuff. I-I knew I was in denial and deflecting because I'd realized during that time that without that anxiety, I didn't... I didn't care if I thought guys were hot and stuff. It was... I got so caught up in thinking that I didn't need s-something else for people to hate on me for that I-I didn't realize that I had gotten so defensive. Like, if I was comfortable being straight then I shouldn't have been like that, and I shouldn't have treated Kanji like I did. I mean, no one else did, you didn't. So when that phase was over, I just... took some time to really think about it.

A-Also helped that I... kissed a guy and I liked it? [ Such a lame joke, but he wanted to try and lighten the mood at least a little. ] A-And then I went home and without you around since you were back in Tokyo, I just... had a lot to think about. I didn't remember this place though but I think I was workin' toward the same conclusion, just at a much slower pace because when I came back here, it was just... it was just easier to come to terms with.

I didn't say anything like that to Kanji - at least, not on purpose - but I didn't defend him. Or tell you not to say things like that. I haven't always been...

[He looks down, takes a deep breath, and looks back up.]

I was worried about how people would see me, too. And I was intimidated by Kanji's - his Shadow, and his reputation. So it's not something where you should think you're the only one who got it wrong.

... And when I figured out it didn't matter to me, either, I chickened out of telling you. So you don't have to worry that I'm going to think... anything bad about it.

[She drinks the water. It helps as much as the cleaning does, actually. She must have been dehydrated by the end of the fight club. She hadn't realized.

It's nice he's doing this for her. Nice to be taken care of like this.]
